Due to European Union directives, UK gamibling laws received a complete overhaul in 2004 as Europe saw a massive opportunity in remote gambling.

UK Legislation covered online gambling, as well as gambling from radio, TV, cellular phones and any other electrical device.

Any gaming that isnt at a fixed location is considered by UK legislation to be 'remote', which was all covered by the new legislation.

Two main types of gambling licences are remote gambling licences, and non-remote licences. Recently the UK and EU have set their sights on the gambling industry with the aim to implement stricter regulations.

The UK legislate that detailed records of all transactions must be kept, and regular inspections by EU and UK regulators ensure compliance.

The UK is seen as an excellent iGaming jurisdiction, however comparatively high tax makes the UK uncompetitive globally.
